Mothers' Union

Mothers' Union logoThe Mothers' Union has over 4 million members in 80 countries, and has 5 objectives:

  • To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding.
  • To encourage parents to bring up children in the faith and life of the Church.
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer and worship.
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life.
  • To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

Our local group in Rothley usually meets in the Old School Rooms at 2.00pm on the first Tuesday of every month. We have a short service, listen to a speaker and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together. Visitors are always welcome.

In addition, in 2022, the Leicester Wave of Prayer was held in church in July and a harvest supper in October. Five new members were enrolled. Charitable initiatives both within the local community and overseas continue to be supported, including the Away From It All (AFIA) Holiday which took 10 families away in 2022. Members also made wiggly bags for the paediatric oncology ward at Queen’s Medical Centre for use by children undergoing cancer treatment. These were sponsored, with the proceeds going towards Mothers’ Union funds. Links with overseas Mothers’ Union members in Eastern Zambia, Mombasa and Temotu are maintained and the Mothers’ Union members in Gwagwalada and Ekiti-West, Nigeria, regularly prayed for.The following forthcoming events in our 2023 programme are published in a leaflet available in church and also in the the church weekly notice sheet:
