The 'Men’s Breakfast’ group

We meet in the Old School Rooms on a Saturday morning from 8.00-9.30am about four times per year. We enjoy a full English breakfast, good conversation and listen to a talk, often given by an external speaker.

Our meetings are informal and usually attended by about twenty people. Most of the morning is given over to informal conversation as we enjoy a hearty breakfast. At every meeting we welcome a guest speaker who talks about some aspect of the Christian Faith. This often includes a valuable insight into why and how they became a Christian. Previous speaker’s have included: Europe’s fifth ranked kick boxer; Richard Hopkins on ‘Football, Family and Faith’; and ‘Handling finances in chronic turmoil’. Our most recent guest speaker was Tom Hutchins, Curate at Sileby giving a talk on 'Not of This World: Do Christianity and Politics Mix?'

This is not a bible study group and you do not need to be a Christian to attend our breakfasts! All we ask is that you like to eat, listen and ask questions. We make a charge of £4 to cover the cost of the food, and forward any profit to support the work of the church in the village.

To be added to the Men’s Breakfast mailing list or to book a place at the next breakfast, phone or email Malcolm Cook.

Rothley Church Men's Group (RCMG)

The aim of the RCMG is to offer the opportunity to all men to meet in fellowship: sharing and learning from life’s experiences and seeking to further develop their understanding of The Gospel and its relevance in today’s world.

The group was originally named Men Behaving Acceptably (MBA) by the founders of the group, loosely based on a TV series at the time and intended to have several meanings (even academic!), but the informality of the meetings often bring a smile to the face of those who remember the TV sitcom with a slightly different title. Whilst maintaining the original objectives and style of the group it was renamed Rothley Church Men’s Group (RCMG) at the start of 2016. The group celebrated twenty years since its formation with a Twentieth Anniversary Dinner held on 21st October 2016 (see photo gallery), with guest speaker Right Reverend Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds.

Our regular monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of the month throughout the year with speakers from outside and inside the Church invited to speak about their own personal life and faith followed by a question time. The diversity of subjects broached is huge. Some events are based on a forum style to encourage debate around key issues affecting life for men in the 21st century.

The RCMG currently meets at the Rothley Court Hotel in the village where a bar is available and light supper provided as part of the cost of the evening, which is currently £5. For further information about the RCMG please email Mike Ferguson or email the Church office.
